Website

Thanks to the summer work of our committee, led by Tina, our website is now operational. It is the best way to stay informed about the activities and issues of the homeowner’s association. Ashley from Platinum Management is our website administrator assisted by Neil, our neighbor. The website will soon be the go-to for all of us. It will include the HOA rules and regulations, our CCR document and by-laws, neighborhood watch information, pool rules, discussion area, calendar and our directory.  Many other features are planned.

Pool Access

We will soon be choosing one of the three plans so that the engineering company can create a detailed drawing for the pool access improvement. The plans were displayed in the ramada for many weeks and were attached to the meeting notice last month.  Please let Ashley or me know which one you prefer no later than December 1. It is likely that the board will make a decision at the next meeting.

Open Positions

As many of you know, we have recently experienced the resignations of a board member as well as the chairperson of the neighborhood watch committee. We could use your help. We thank Marie for serving on the board and wish her well. The board needs to appoint a replacement to serve the remainder of her term. Please let me know if you have interest or if you simply have questions. It is a good opportunity to experience board membership without a long-term commitment.  We thank Katherine for recommitting us to the neighborhood watch protocols.  She created a comprehensive, complete binder of all the necessary document and procedures for her replacement to use. Please let me know if you are interested.

Continuing

Harry is leading a committee to research and to recommend the best and most economical treatment for our roads.  We look forward to an update at our next meeting.
Ken is helping the landscape committee complete work on the common area of the wash according the bid we accepted.  He is also researching the best and most economical treatment of the steep bank adjacent to the Campana Circle spillway. We look forward to his update as well.
Although we won’t have a holiday party this year again, we are hopeful that next year will bring a season of celebration post-virus.

Board

Beyond its usual approvals of the minutes and financial report, the board voted to change the voting process for next spring into what is termed a secret ballot procedure. Until now our votes and our names were on the same sheet of paper.  Now the votes will be on the ballot but our names and unit numbers will be on a small envelope into which you will place your ballot.  Once the address has been recorded, the ballots are separated from the envelopes so that no one will be able to review which homeowner voted for which candidate. I’m pretty sure that there is a paragraph that more clearly explains the change but suffice it to say it’ll be more secure.

Our next meeting of the HOA board has been scheduled for Wednesday, December 8 at the unusual time of two p.m. Yes, you read that correctly, 2:00 p.m. in the ramada.  We felt that it would allow neighbors to attend who may not wish to go out at night and it should be a lot warmer. I particularly like that part.

Recently one of our new homeowners told me that she had so many of her neighbors make an effort to introduce themselves or greeted her on the street making her feel so welcomed.  That is a reason that our community is sought after by so many when a unit goes on the market.  It is ‘since we are neighbors’ in the best sense of that phrase.  Very nice to hear.

Happy Thanksgiving
Jim
